ST.
LOUIS,
Sept

2008
–
Today
Emerson
Climate
Technologies,
a
business
of
Emerson
(NYSE:
EMR),
introduced
its
new
Refrigerant
Management
System.
The
Refrigerant
Management
System
enables
retailers
to
accurately
monitor
and
track
their
refrigerant
usage,
helping
them
to
maintain
compliance
with
the
Environmental
Protection
Agency’s
reporting
and
record
keeping
requirements
for
Class
I
and
Class
II
refrigerants
(EPA
Section
608).
It
uses
a
combination
of
state
of
the
art
technology
and
valving
techniques
to
handle
all
aspects
of
refrigerant
charging
or
removal,
while
providing
the
user
with
the
pertinent
information
required
by
the
EPA.
“Our
goal
is
to
help
our
customers
maintain
government
compliance
and
meet
self-imposed
sustainability
goals
through
more
efficient
and
integrated
means,”
said
Bill
Coulombe,
president,
Emerson
Climate
Technologies,
Retail
Solutions
division.
“By
eliminating
the
inconsistencies
and
guesswork
associated
with
the
charging
of
refrigeration
systems,
our
Refrigerant
Management
System
will
allow
our
retail
customers
to
easily
satisfy
guidelines
set
forth
by
the
EPA.”
Through
a
metered
and
valved
system,
the
Refrigerant
Management
System
measures
the
amount
of
refrigerant
a
service
provider
adds
to a
refrigeration
system
over
time
with
a
patented
algorithm
that
allows
it
to
accurately
track
the
amount
of
gas
as
it
is
added
to a
system.
The
Refrigerant
Management
System’s
integrated
computer
then
stores
this
data,
making
it
available
both
locally
and
remotely
for
easy
record
review.
When
connected
to a
store’s
Ethernet
network,
retailers
may
access
the
Refrigerant
Management
System
remotely,
allowing
data
to
be
archived
for
future
use.
The
Refrigerant
Management
System
also
functions
as a
maintenance
tracking
platform.
Technicians
easily
log
system
symptoms,
problems
and
repairs
in
its
onboard
database,
providing
a
standardized
maintenance
log.
Data
may
then
be
transmitted
to a
centralized
database
for
archiving,
logging,
and
analysis,
where
it
may
be
used
to
identify
maintenance
trends
and
performance
issues
that
affect
a
retailer’s
operation.
By
gathering
refrigerant
usage
data
and
making
that
information
available
remotely,
the
Refrigerant
Management
System
becomes
a
key
component
of
the
Intelligent
Store™
architecture.
The
Intelligent
Store
architecture
is
an
integrated
suite
of
products
and
services
that
brings
retail
operators
a
new
level
of
sophistication
to
their
operations.
When
combined,
these
innovative
Emerson
Climate
Technologies
products
and
services
are
proven
to
reduce
maintenance,
energy
and
other
operational
costs.

controllers,
