EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES APPOINTS NEW VICE PRESIDENT AIR CONDITIONING MARKETING ASIA

ST. LOUIS, July 3, 2008 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced the appointment of Don Newlon to the position of vice president, air conditioning marketing for Emerson Climate Technologies Asia. Newlon most recently served as Emerson’s program leader for the company’s global transportation business.

In this new position Newlon will be responsible for all air conditioning marketing activities for both the residential and commercial air conditioning businesses. He will lead the development and execution of market, customer and new technology initiatives, demand management & forecasting, price management, eBusiness as well as coordinating the Emerson planning processes. 

“Don’s deep experience at Emerson makes him a critical part of our success in Asia,” said Scott Barbour, president, Emerson Climate Technologies, Asia. “It is a strategic growth market for us in terms of residential and commercial air conditioning, and Don will play a key role in gaining exposure in the Asian marketplace.”

Newlon began his career at Emerson in 1992 as an advanced manufacturing engineer where he was instrumental in the launch of the company’s open-drive scroll compressor as well as the first marine scroll compressor product line. He then moved into product engineering where he worked on the Copeland Scroll refrigeration compressor. His next role, in product planning, gave him responsibility for the Copeland Discus platform. He has also worked in marketing, overseeing the industrial and transportation markets.

Newlon has a Bachelor’s of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from The Ohio State University.
